Story, Personality, Others:
Sooty was found on the street. He had no chip, no other identification and he has not been claimed. He is very neglected. He has fur loss on his back and butt and he does not see very well, he has the beginning of cataracts on both eyes, right eye is worse. We are doing what we can to make him feel better, spot-on for the skin, daily drops for the eyes. But naturally it is not the same level of care and the same hygiene conditions that he would have in a home. The staff of the shelter does what they can in a shelter overcrowded with dogs, many of them requiring daily medication.
Sooty is gentle and sweet. He is a bit insecure with people but this is mostly due to the fact that he does not see very well, as he does not seem to be a scared dog. He seems sad… probably he feels that he lost his home and that his life will never be the same. He spends his days laying down in his bed and he only goes out when we oblige him. He is social with other dogs though. He walks well on the leash.
