Story, Personality, Others:

These very scared puppies have been brought to the shelter. They have been born in the bushes and had very little human contact at the age when puppies can still get easily socialised. They were brought to the shelter and they are just terrified. The first human contact at 4 months is already late and in the shelter, where it is impossible to give them personalised human attention they will just grow into savage dogs.

Every year we get puppies from this place. There is one scared dog that no one manages to catch and she regularly has puppies. It should be the responsibility of the municipality to catch her and sterilise and if she already showed that she can survive there she could be returned there. But at least she would be sterilised so no more puppies. But the municipality does not do anything as every time people catch the puppies and bring them to the shelter. And if people would not do it then the puppies would just stay in the street and grow there and make packs of hungry scared dogs like it often happens in Portugal. The municipalities don´t want to know.

Unfortunately when they are brough to the shelter they are already very scared and there are no conditions in the shelter to socialise such scared dogs. If they went to a home, permanent or temporary, they could still learn how to be a family dog, but people don´t want to adopt such scared puppies. They have plenty of social puppies to choose from.

The girls Dalila and Dominga are very scared but gentle and it is possible to take them on the lap and stroke them. It is either they will get their chance now, when they are still young, or they will stay in the shelter forever.
