Waffle was brought to us from a municipal pound in May 2021. The pounds like to send the dogs they don´t want. Shy, scared, or even aggressive. They don´t want to collaborate by sending those that adoptable. If dogs get adopted, we can help next ones. But no, they like to send the “difficult” ones.
Waffle is not easy. She is gentle and she does not bite or snap but she is very shy. At the beginning noone could even touch her, she was running to the other side of the kennel. Now, after 2 years, she comes to sniff our hands and we can briefly pet her but she does not allow more closer contact and it is impossible to put a leash on her.
She is a beautiful and gentle dog and she deserved a happy life but in a shelter with many dogs and few volunteers only “that much” progress can be made. If she was at home and had constant human attention it would be different.
Waffle is very friendly with other dogs though.
