Story, Personality, Others:
Valerie was brought to us in June 2020 in a group of 13 dogs, extremely neglected, from a hoarder. The hoarders health made her surrender the dogs to the shelter and for the poor dogs we wish it could have been sooner. The hoarder have been accumulating dogs for years, giving them no physical or emotional care. Some dogs were very sick (leishmaniose, heart worm, cancer, chronical infections) when they came to us. Some died soon after. The others – we tried to help them but some are still not doing well because the treatment came too late in many cases. The few dogs that were not sick were extremely scared and are still scared of us, many months later in the shelter. What a horrible place they must have been…. people are allowed to hoard dogs and neglect them or mistreat them as long as they do it behind their fence noone wants to know and the legal tools are not used.

Valerie is one of the shy dogs. She was probably the youngest in a group, she was not sick but she was and still is extremely scared. After many months in the shelter she still panicks if we even enter her kennel. She runs from one end to a another. She is happy when no humans are close and she likes the company of other dogs. Poor little girl.
