Max was dumped in the shelter together with his mum Jade (who is 15 years old) by their owners who did not want him anymore. Probably because he is old and does not serve as a guard dog anymore. He lived all his life on the chain and the owner brought him with the chain still on his neck. It was so stuck that tools were needed to liberate the dog and it took time, the dog was getting very upset. It is also a proof that he has not been off the chain for years, not even for an hour.
So much suffering and neglect.
Max was never treated kindly so he is mistrustful when he does not know someone. But when he gets to know and starts trusting, he is a great dog.
