Areias had a home. But he was really badly treated. He was kept in a cellar. They did not want him in the house and they did not want him in the garden. Why did they get a dog in the first place?? The neigbours said sometimes he was there for days. Sometimes the owners were gone for days and they were leaving him closed in the cellar.
And then he “disappeared”. The owners abandoned him, they put him in an empty house, a house where no one lived, they just pushed him over the fence and they left. The dog stayed there waiting…. He had nowhere else to go. The owners did not see anything wrong with getting rid of the dog if they didn’t want him anymore, so they bragged about it to the neighbours. They thought they did such a clever thing. And one of the neighbours went to rescue the dog and bring him to the shelter. So this is where he is.
Areias was scared and mistrustful at the first when he came to the shelter. He would jump at high noises or unexpected moves. But he has quickly developed a link with the staff of the shelter. Now, a few months later, he is a lovely, friendly and happy dog. He suffered enough, now he deserves a chance of having a real loving home.
