Gabriel was born in Serra de Arrabida.
This place is a national park known as a place where people abandon dogs. It is very desolated, so they can throw a dog out of the car and noone will see them and the dog will not find a way home. And there are wild animals, so they might kill the dog so like this the “problem” is taken care of. It is especially a preferred place for some people to abandon pregnant dogs.
Gabriel´s mum was abandoned there. She was probably pregnant then, she gave birth to 4 puppies in the wild. When someone who cared noticed the mum with puppies, the puppies were already big enough, not used to people and they run fast. This person managed to catch two puppies. They were still young enough, she rehomed them and they are fine in their new homes. Gabriel took more time… Finally he was caught last week but he is already quite big and he is very scared of people. It will be a long work to socialise him…
The mum is still there with one puppy. She is social with people, as she must have had a home but the puppy is impossible to catch. Hopefully the people that try to catch him will manage… Then they will bring him and the mum.
